I had an alternative path to education. My family is originally from the northeast: Rhode Island and Boston, MA areas. I went to art school in Brooklyn, NY and graduated from Pratt Institute with a degree in Communication Design and minor in Art + Design Education. Shortly after, I moved down to New Orleans, LA in 2011; I taught visual art at a number of museums & organizations then in schools throughout the city. I knew I wanted to be a teacher but not a traditional one, I knew there had to be another way. Sure enough, I stumbled into a small Montessori school and the elements of design, the materials, and the energy of the environment all resonated with me. I trained at Houston's Montessori Training Center and after observations, tests, and lots of work, I gained my AMS (American Montessori Society) Early Childhood credential. I joined Audubon Charter School in 2015 and couldn't be happier.
