Students will use materials during direct small group and large group instruction. These materials help students to learn letter recognition, matching, rhyming, letter sounds, building words, and many other phonics skills. Different phonics materials will keep children engaged as they build, sort, and learn about words. A variety of materials helps motivate all students, especially hesitant learners. Children will use The Didax Unifix cubes to build words starting with CVC words. The additional Blend Cube Kit will allow students to progress to blends and words with increasing complexity. The Didax Unifix Cube Small Group set will assure that there is enough materials for students to work directly with the teacher during guided reading and other small group activities. Other materials such as Manuscript letter beads help students to practice different phonics concepts such as letter matching, letter sound
