Having a stream board would not only benefit second grade, but every grade level at our school. Earth Science is an integral part of standards based learning at every grade level. Our school goal is to connect learning through each grade level and my contribution would be to design Earth Science lessons based on the state standards that would involve using the stream board to demonstrate learning. Projects would range from land formations to erosion to the Earth's materials. Students already love science, but hands-on science increases their use of higher order thinking skills. Having the stream board would build on prior knowledge from each year which is an extremely important part of not only the standards, but a student's learning, as well. Based on where we live, we can also take this learning and apply it to real life geography right in our own backyard.
