My students amaze me every day. We are a combined middle school and high school self-contained unit with 13 students. My students are hard workers and are always ready to learn new things. However, my students also possess challenges with sensory, emotional, behavioral, and academic issues. Our school is a small, tight-knit community with 60% of our students receiving free or reduced lunch. My students work hard daily to learn life skills to become independent members of society. We are working on job placements within the community for our students to provide them with real-life work experiences while still focusing on rigorous academics within the classroom.
