Many of my students said they enjoy listening to instrumental hip hop, meditation music, and mindfulness videos. I am so impressed that the kids were able to identify what they need, and even more amazed by how different their needs were. Headphones will allow students to focus on their work, while still maintaining a quiet space for the people in the classroom who would rather not listen to music. In addition to using the headphones to listen to music, we will use an online reading program with emergent readers. Half of my class is reading somewhere below grade level, so using this program will be crucial to their growth as readers. I am passionate about creating a classroom environment that meets every student's needs, and I know that headphones will help me provide that kind of experience to my students.
