The room separating tension rod and curtain will help create a quiet and nurturing place where students who are seeking a sensory break can feel calm and relaxed. This will be used to cover an area that can be over-stimulating for some students to look at and will help foster an environment where only one activity is introduced at a time so that students don't feel overwhelmed. The kinetic sand, small sand box, legos, and gel beads will all help students who require sensory breaks to self-regulate their emotions and re-focus for academic periods. Students with exceptionalities such as autism, ADD/ADHD, etc often benefit from these types of breaks.
