Many first grade students need extra support to build a solid understanding of math and numbers. Some students struggle with important basic math skills. These hands-on tools will help them master the important skills required for problem-solving, number sense, computation, and success in first grade. The use of whiteboards is almost a daily activity in my classroom, especially in math. Using the workshop model in math, students come to the rug with games for guided practice. The games will allow me to see exactly what they are doing, as well as provide an easy place for them to show and share their work. Using these math games will help to build confidence and encourage growth.
