This WONDERful novel will allow students to access all of their grade level reading standards through a highly engaging text. The novel allows students to practice and apply main idea, point of view, multiple perspectives, theme, symbolism, and figurative language all while developing a text to self connection. Along with ALL of the AMAZING academic learning opportunities this book offers, students will learn to deal with the challenge of diversity and respond in a kind, responsible, and respectful manner to those in their peer group. It is my hope that they take these life lessons out into the community improving the lives of those around them.
