Many of my students come to me claiming that they dislike reading. In fact, many of my students have not ever read a book in its entirety for this reason. However, I think I can change this by pairing students with engaging texts that are intriguing to them personally. Therefore, I have chosen 100 books here that I think my students may connect with. I firmly believe that falling into a good piece of literature is part of the human experience. Moreover, reading develops students as communicators, which is essential in today's competitive professional and collegiate spheres. I want my students to leave my classroom feeling better about reading so that they can build their skills and ultimately become successful adults. Currently, I have only a handful of books available in my classroom that I have purchased throughout the years with my own money. We do have a school library, but there has been an initiative this year for every student to read (which is fabulous!), and our campus simply does not have the resources available to pair every single student on campus with a book that is tailored to their interests. As such, I would like to build a library that will stay in my classroom for my students to utilize at their leisure.
