Obtaining a carpet for our classroom is a pivotal step in developing a learning environment for my students that fits their needs. I truly believe that movement throughout the day to different learning environments gives our students a chance for a "brain break" before moving on to more instructional time. Their carpet will be used for community meetings, read-alouds, and whole/small group instruction. The classroom carpet serves as a "soft landing" for students in our 2nd grade class to learn social skills and make connections to learning through a soft, inviting, comfortable space. Providing this space for my students would allow them to learn in a developmentally-appropriate manner, while also creating an environment where we can build a strong classroom community.
