All of my students are working on their ability to communicate, using their own words to express themselves. Using puppets to tell stories and communicate is another tool we can use to help encourage my students to work on using expressive language. Puppets are fun, silly, and often times help ease any anxiety a student may have about talking aloud. These puppet collections tie directly into stories we read each year and both ECSE classrooms will be able to use these puppets over and over again. Our students will use the puppets to help retell each story. They can use them during circle time, small group work, and freely during play time. Puppets give us another way to engage our students in the stories we are reading. We focus on vocabulary, cause and effect, and retelling skills that are important for reading comprehension. Our students already love to read stories in school and these puppets will add another fun and engaging way to give our students a direct connection to the stories we read!
