I have chosen the Novel The Hate U Give to motivate and inspire my students to experience the joy of reading. We need to take a break from the tedious type of reading for high stakes testing and get back to what is really important, experiencing the sheer pleasure of immersing ourselves in a great book. As we read this novel, I would like to focus on the Book-Head-Heart- Reading Model. Students will read to find out what's in the book, what's in their heads as they are reading the book, and what's in their hearts. I want them to think about how reading this book will make them a better person.

About my class
