Our class encourages students to do the work of scientists. I'm requesting ten Nutrient Agar Media kits. With the aide of the Petri dish kits, students will collect microorganisms around the school building and reveal the bacteria that surrounds us everyday. They will make observations, comparisons, and look for patterns across bacteria types. Student engagement and impact increase when students of all levels participate in hands-on activities. Students get excited when they see something invisible become visible over time. Part of the excitement comes from having the choice to swab areas that they have contact with on a daily basis. The students get excited to swab their table tops, keyboards, and door handles.
