This project was inspired by all five-year-old children who enter a classroom and seems like they have "ants in their pants!" Alternative seating is the answer! So many young learners have the urge to move constantly and are targeted as behavior issues, when, in reality, their brains just function better when they are able to wiggle while they work! Movement is a critical part of successful learning! The stability ball chairs in this project are an alternative seating option that allow children to move their bodies while still staying focused on the important work they do in the classroom. The balls give students the ability to bounce and move, all while staying in their "seat." The ring toss, darts game, and bowling set will all allow me to answer my students' request for more movement. I can use these games for number sense, math facts, sight words and more! The snacks will be used to fuel our bodies and our brains as we tackle the hard work of kindergarten. Things like the Clif Bars for Kids, the Quaker granola bars, and the real fruit snacks will give them the push to keep going! Little bodies need full bellies to really be able to focus on school work and having a healthy little snack to break up our long day will help them remain strong and ready to learn!
