The donations from this project will assist my students in becoming independent in their learning to: develop abilities necessary to conduct scientific investigations; apply an understanding of properties of objects and materials, position and motion of objects, and properties of magnetism; solve problems in new ways; understand and research characteristics, structures, life cycles, and environments of organisms; and lastly develop an understanding of the properties of Earth materials, objects in the sky, and the changes in the Earth and sky. Step into STEM with us if you want to see young minds grow strong in science, technology, engineering and math! Your donation with fund science experiments, discovery buckets, research assignments and moving learning back to investigation and back to fun! An example of the use of cardboard boxes is a discovery experiment in which students must work as a team to create a material that could make a good walking path from home to school. Their material has to be sturdy and environmentally friendly. They are given the option of clay, plaster of paris, dirt, rocks, etc. Another example is the use of bells, marbles, golf balls, tennis balls, etc. During unit two of our curriculum we are studying types of matter and whether or not things sink or float. These supplies with help with multiple investigations and experiments.
