I have been working to transform my classroom into a individualized, learning-friendly environment that caters to each child's unique needs. Each child has different needs both personally and educationally. Traditional classrooms do not meet the needs of every child. Inspired by a colleague who made this transformation four years ago, I am confident that this is the right move. My project will increase student engagement by allowing them to choose their ideal work environment. My ultimate goal is to have a larger variety of areas that a child can choose from. I would like to have a floor area, bean bags, tables, a standing table, and various seating choices. By giving students a choice, we value their needs as an individual. When they feel valued, their quality of work improves. A classroom should look and feel like a safe place. We are a child's home away from home.
