My students are bright, eager learners coming from diverse backgrounds. They started off the school year ready to build on their foundational reading skills and take on the responsibilities and challenges of first grade! First graders see tremendous progress in their reading skills and are also able to tackle math problems that require more critical thinking. In addition to academic content, I help my students develop essential social-emotional skills through cooperative learning experiences. Our classroom is a community in which kindness and mutual respect is emphasized. We celebrate both our successes and failures and we persevere in the face of challenges! We are tough problem solvers, kind friends, math superstars, strong speakers...and so much more!
