Students will be engaged in hands-on science experiments and activities that will intrigue them. This will encourage them to be lifelong learners and promote experiences that they may not otherwise get to engage in. This allows students to realize that learning is fun and not just reading a passage and answering questions. Experiments allow types of learning for all different learning styles and needs. All students learn better when engaged and can get up and move around while experimenting. Science is all around us, yet we don't even realize it often. I want my students to relate science to the everyday world and to actually experience it and not just read about it in a textbook. The donations to this project will help to improve my students' understanding of science in the world around them. For example, the Be Amazing Toys - Test Tube Adventures Lab-in-a-bag allows students to be hands-on with science in the classroom by engaging them in their learning. The Kore Kids Wobble Chairs allow students who are unable to sit still for long periods of time the flexibility to move while learning. Evan-moor - Daily Science allows us to supplement our current curriculum with additional engaging activities that will make our science even richer in the classroom. Elementary educators have far more impact and influence on a child’s potential to seek out a career in science or engineering than any other grade level, therefore I want to make it top priority in my classroom. If teaching science is compelling, exciting and engaging then I am hopeful that my students will talk about it with their parents and siblings. What better way to involve my parents and encourage science learning at the same time.
