A Kindergarten classroom is the first place that some children are exposed to books, which is why it is so important to have a variety of reading material at their fingertips! As an educator, it is my job to fill the classroom with books that keep students engaged and foster a love of reading. Right now, we have a limited selection of leveled readers to keep students progressing. How can we expect students to become readers without lots and lots of practice? The only way to get that practice is to put books in the hands of each student! Your generous donations will help to fill our bookshelves with books and students' hearts with a love of reading. We will use the books for personal book boxes (also funded by the project) that students will use for independent practice and for guided reading groups where students learn HOW to be good readers. I truly believe that there are few things more important than engaging students from the moment they step into their first classroom and fostering a love of reading that will help them throughout their education journey--and beyond!
