I moved to Chicago, IL in 2009 to pursue a career in urban education. For 8 years I have taught and coached in the Englewood, Washington Park, and South Chicago neighborhoods (some of the roughest in the city) and have absolutely fallen in love with my After my daughter was born, I made the move across the border to Indiana and taught for 3 years in East Chicago, IN serving a very similar demographic to that of the south side of Chicago. My career has now brought me to Steel City Academy in Gary, Indiana and has continued to provide me the opportunity to live out my mission in life. The pure joy that my scholars show when they achieve and surpass their goals, against all odds, is why I do what I do! ~Ms. A
