We will use the carpet for sitting on the floor while we learn new sounds and new words during ELA. The students come and sit on the floor every morning to learn new high frequency words and sounds. We sound words out as a class and have a lot of fun. The students would feel a lot more comfortable if they had a carpet to sit on. I read the weekly story to them while they sit on the floor. We then read the story together as a class. The students like being closer to the board, and some students like to take notes sitting on the floor. I really would love to have a carpet for my students, so they will not have to sit on the hard floor when learning.
