One key to a successful classroom is a sense of community and trust. I want my students to bond throughout the year, and freely voice their views and share their wealth of knowledge. It is my hope that through this sense of community, my students will feel at ease to take risk and dive into challenging activities with their peers. In order to help foster this sense of nurture and community I would like to start my days in a more personal way. My goal is to greet each child individually each day as they enter the room. The next step is to conduct a morning meeting each morning on the cozy rug provided by generous donors. Our time spent on this rug will help us come together to achieve our goals and share our dreams. We would use this rug to sit on as a classroom family while discussing tough topics and engaging in meaningful team building activities. In addition, the rug will be a nurturing place to relax on a hard day to listen to a read aloud or to grab a seat with a partner to practice math fluency.
