I love my kindergarteners! They come to school every day with that supercharged five-year-old's energy and an eagerness to learn. My class is an inclusion class in a Title 1 school. About a third of the kids have IEPs addressing special needs. Two-thirds are considered General Ed. But every child is an individual, with strengths and challenges and a unique learning style. And they accomplish so much. My kids may have been in daycare and PreK but Kindergarten is where the rubber meets the road! By the end of the year we're reading, writing, adding, subtracting... it's serious business! That said, our classroom is our home away from home. It's comfortable and welcoming, with class pets to feed and class plants to water. Our classroom culture is one of kindness and consistency, where we support each other, discover, grow, and have fun!
