Our classroom is presently getting new tile installed. We continually use the floor for group learning, small group activities, and buddy reading. I am very concerned with the students sitting on the cold tile for these activities. They will learn more effectively if they are sitting comfortably. Small group learning is always effective. Students love collaborating with one another with skills that we learn as a whole group. I firmly believe that my students will benefit from the carpet in this manner. In addition, I think this will attribute to limiting noise in my classroom because it is proven that carpet absorbs sound.
