The current generation of students are the first true digital natives. Many of my students do not have access to computers or tablets at home. My classroom has only two desktop computers, which makes it difficult to expose these students to technology. If awarded the class set of kindles my students will be able to access online books, dictionaries, learning applications and so much more. They will be able to enhance their reading and writing skills necessary for fourth grade. I plan on having students use a kid friendly blog where they can interact with classmates in a digital way. Students will also be able to complete research projects on the grade appropriate content of their interest. Students will be able to grow as learners and use this technology as a resource. Having these kindles will help bridge the achievement gap in low socioeconomic schools. By having these kindles, it will allow for learning to enhance and will create for a great resource which can be applied in a multitude of ways.
