My students love playing the Orff instruments however I only have 5 instruments for classes of 28 students. Students have to wait 3 turns before they get to play, and only get to play for a few minutes because it is time to switch again. The alto xylophone I am requesting will give my students not one, but essentially two instruments because it is large enough to have two students play on it at a time. The alto xylophone will be used to fulfill the state requirement of melodies in the classroom, but more importantly it will be used for creating music. My students will be able to use this instrument for lessons on composing, improvisation, and learning to read notation.
