My students come from immigrant families who are barely making ends meet. There is little to no money for extras like trips to art museums to learn about artists like Van Gogh and Matisse. I hope with this project I can open my students' world to the beauty of art. Since the budget cuts took all funding away from art programs, it is my job to work even harder to bring art to my students. The watercolor pencils and watercolor paper are an essential part of recreating famous paintings. The watercolor pencils will give my students the opportunity to use watercolors in a more contained way. My goal with this project is my students will learn about famous artist and recreate their versions of artists famous paintings. I would like to create a gallery walk for the families at the completion of our projects. We will bring the museum to them.
