I am requesting numerous titles of the same text. I want to fill my students' hands with these rich storybooks during independent and partner reading time. These storybooks are a great way to build my students excitement for reading. They will be rereading texts that they have heard in the classroom or at home. We call them "Old Favorites" in my classroom. It is a great way to begin the reading process and for the students to associate books to meaning. When they are reading these titles they will feel they are readers. They will say again and again “I am Reading!” They will be reading the pictures, retelling the stories and then focusing on the print. My students need to have many opportunities to read and reread these titles. It will also help my English Language Learners build their vocabulary and speaking skills.
