My lessons are planned so that students work in small groups 90% of their time in the classroom. Students working with their peers encourages discussions, debates, shared decision making, and strives for deeper thinking that is required in every aspect of today's classroom. As a teacher we hope our students come to us with general life skills but intricate teamwork takes scaffolding. These four rectangular tables will allow six students to sit together in a collaborative learning environment. I will be teaching 3rd grade math which calls for students to learn fractions, multiplication, geometry, and telling time. At their tables they will hold higher level discussions while collaboratively working to complete assignments.
