The carpet area is the focal point of my classroom. We meet there first thing for our morning meeting, plan our day or share ideas with each other. A large, clean carpet is VITAL to kindergarten instructional time! My students spend more than half of their day on this central part of the classroom. We will start out on the carpet for every lesson, before moving to small group or independent work. We come together on the carpet to share great literature, to play learning games to help with reading and math and to use our smartboard for whole group instruction. We finalize our day on the carpet as we recap our day and share reminders and plans for the next day.
