My students are enthusiastic and inquisitive second grade scholars from rural West Virginia. They attend a Title I school where 100 percent of students receive free lunch. My students have learned that attitude, diligence and resourcefulness are critical in overcoming barriers that they may face. Resources and funds that are essential for success are limited, but the hopefulness and desire present in each of my little intellectuals is abundant. It is a priority that I am able to maintain a healthy, safe, and engaging environment that fosters a love for learning. These students work hard and are empowered by the desire and willingness to succeed. It is my hope that these critical life skills will prepare them for a better future not only in my classroom, but for life!
