In our classroom we will use the class sets of books as novel studies to build experiences and connections with each other and the world. We will use the texts to discuss ELA and Social Studies standards as well as build our knowledge on new worldly happenings from a different vantage point. Students will get the opportunity to connect their lives to those of the characters in the text. We will use close reading strategies to make our way through the chapters while discussing important points of the text. Students will also gain independent reading time with the different novels.
