Thank you for considering to help fund this project! I am a 24 year veteran of teaching all grades, and coaching high school swimming. My 6 class periods are all geared for the struggling reader, and unfortunately that large group of children come from very low socioeconomic circumstances. Whatever the kids get of an education, and school is from school itself. When they get home many of my students do not know where they will sleep, or even where home actually is, and who lives there. Their young lives are tough, and filled with a lot of despair. I want to make 8th grade intensive reading fun, interesting and something the kids look forward to! By creating a classroom with up to date furniture, and new supplies I am saying to my students that society cares about them and that they deserve the best. It is because of YOU that they WILL KNOW they are cared for. Thank you in advance for ANY help you can provide!
