During independent reading, students need access to many books to independently practice the reading strategies they have been taught during large group and small group lessons. Growing readers grows leaders! Confident readers are tomorrow's leaders. By developing strong reading comprehension, students learn to reflect and think deeply, ask questions, make connections, summarize and synthesize - all important traits that will serve them well throughout their life. To do this, students need high quality, engaging children's literature at their fingertips.
