Within the school, in which I work, the majority of my students do not have a lot at home. It is my job, as a teacher, to make sure that while they are at school, I give them all the tools and resources I can. iPads are something every child loves to play with so why not make it educational? I have researched different apps I can download in order to help my students build their phonics and math skills. These different apps will also allow me to assign different lessons based off of their ability and what they may be struggling with the most. Some of the apps I have found include Phonics awareness which allows students to listen to a word and they have to identify which letters make that sound in order to build that specific word. I have found an app called Splash Math which will help students with math facts and sends me a weekly overview on what my students are struggling with and suggestions on what I can be reteaching my class. Students can share with a partner in order to work on social skills as well. The students in my classroom do not get a chance to work on social building skills outside of the classroom so having them share an iPad, with a partner, is a great way to promote positive communication between your peers. These iPads will greatly increase my students' knowledge when it comes to their reading and math content. Kids love learning with technology, especially 6 and 7 year old children.
