Have you ever needed a second chance? That is exactly what my students are getting in the Success Academy. The Success Academy is a new program with a revolving door of students. There are 60 students enrolled at any given time, with new students entering whenever there is a graduate. My students are mothers who left school to tend to their baby, who have dropped out because of unceasing academic failure, which diminishes their confidence and self-worth, who live in poverty, tending to their younger siblings and working full time to help support their family. They have true grit. Their resilience and determination to rise above their hardships and obtain a diploma-some the first in their family- is admirable. We build their confidence back up and guide them towards the life they always have wanted.
