The students in my classroom are engaged in an art project at all times. They start the year learning how to take the primary colors and create secondary and tertiary colors. Then they expand their understanding by learning about color value and shading. They learn basic art concepts such as line, shape, and form. They also study art appreciation and learn about famous artists such as Frederic Remington and Georgia O'Keefe. Therefore, art supplies are in constant demand! Our school does not have an art teacher, but I have embraced teaching this important subject! Students need to use both sides of their brain, the left for science and math, and the right for the arts and creativity! "The arts and sciences have a primary claim to the encouragement of every lover of his country and mankind." - George Washington
