My name is Joshua Peralta. I teach High School English at American Indian Public High School in Oakland, CA. We are an urban, Title 1 school with some of the most eager-to-learn students I've taught! While you'll have to step into my classroom to see my passion for teaching and the hard work of my students, you can help assist me in delivering exceptional content to my kids by choosing to donate to one of my Donor's Choose projects. But how do I try to create an engaging learning environment for my students? In years past, I've arranged for two authors to visit my classes. Novelist and professor Vu Tran came for a reading and an EXCELLENT student-led Q&A with my juniors and seniors after we finished his novel "Dragonfish". Then, after reading "Spook", Oakland-based science writer Mary Roach, a New York Times bestselling author multiple times over, rode her bike to our campus for another awesome Q&a
