This cozy carpet we are requesting for our classroom will invite students to learn surrounded by their peers, and provide alternate seating during lessons. The colored squares on this particular carpet will help students to know where to sit, giving each first grader their own space. This will also assist them in staying focused during our carpet activities. The carpet area will also provide students with a comfortable and inviting place to sit during our independent reading time, which is essential in first grade. Carpet activities help to build a classroom community that is positive, inclusive, group-oriented, and caring. Having this carpet will allow us to focus on our learning together instead of where we are sitting!
