With the funds from this project, our classroom would receive stability balls, stability discs, and wobble chairs. All of these alternative chairs would allow students to move while they practice individual skills on their own. Movement helps students to focus on their job at hand for longer periods of time. Students in my class would have the opportunity to try out these seating options to find what works best for them. Alternative seating would put movement and choice into individual practice and work. There are many other benefits to alternative seating. They can help students to become more physically fit. All of the alternative seating chosen for this project would encourage students to work on their core strength. My kindergarten students would also work on important social skills as we learn and work together to share the alternative seating options. They would learn to use their words, take turns, and appreciate other's learning needs. I am very excited to see how alternative seating impacts the learners each year in my classroom.
