We are always on the move in our classroom! Our carpet space provides us with an area to gather to discuss and share what we have learned while working independently or in small groups. Our day begins with our morning meeting in this learning space. We later meet "on the carpet" to share what we have composed during writer's workshop or what we have discovered while working in a math station or reading with a partner. Read Alouds are always enjoyed and enthusiastically discussed as a group "on the carpet". Our current carpet has been enjoyed and loved by 10+ years of students and is now showing a great deal of wear and tear. Even with faithful upkeep efforts it has become faded, stained and frayed. Our magic carpet is showing it's age! Having a bright, cheery, clean space to learn makes such a difference in the level of pride, ownership and responsibility felt in our classroom. By donating to our project you can provide us with a space that stimulates and enhances our learning experience!
