I have found that intentionality in small group instruction allows for the individual growth of the child to match the growth of the group as a whole. It is far too easy for the teacher to stand at the front of the room and feel as though everyone is on the same page. Even the most animated and mobile educator can miss that one student who appears to understand but actually has no clue what is going on. I strongly believe that every child can learn and that no child should fall through the cracks like that on purpose or by accident. Therefore, I implement small group instruction during reading, writing, and math in order to accomplish and further ensure the goals of engagement, enjoyment, and understanding. Thus, these five Hokki Stools will allow enough physical freedom during these times of the day to increase their stamina to work hard and stay focused in our small groups! I have tried other alternatives, but these stools seem to be the least distracting to the other students in the room. Five would be just enough for me to create well balanced small groups to work with! With the addition of these Hokki stools to my classroom, my students will be one step closer to reaching their full potential as second graders part of a larger community of learners! Thank you for considering helping us as we grow!
