My current classroom has 36 desks which take up all the room. The desks make it very difficult to do group work and move around. By switching to tables my students will have the opportunity to work together collaboratively. This learning environment will increase student productivity and growth. Currently many of my speech and debate students are forced to pull desks into the hallway when working in groups. Having tables will give students more room to work and prepare for competition. Tables will also help my English 10 students collaborate on papers, editing, and synthesis. This will also open the door for various discussion forms and increase academic dialogue between students.
