Due to the increase in sensory, attention, and hyperactivity seen in the classroom, specifically in primary grades, research studies have shown that movement and the inclusion of multi-sensory opportunities for students increases these deficits. This project will provide funds and materials to create a sensory walk throughout the Kindergarten, first, and second-grade hallways of our school. All students within the building will be able to benefit from this creation, but the location will be in the higher-needs area of Kindergarten and first grade. Students in Kindergarten, first and second grade will be provided the opportunity to incorporate time to participate in the sensory walk throughout the school day or just while moving from place to place within the school building. Your help to fund this project will be tremendously appreciated and benefit up to 350-400 students daily. The vinyl sheets of various colors listed in the cart will be cut into different pictures, shapes, and numbers using a Cricut vinylization product. A new blade and cutting mat are needed in order to ensure that all vinyl can be cut appropriately to be placed on the floor and walls of the specified hallways.
