I am excited every day to guide a group of eager, curious, talented, creative young thinkers. Their questions drive my teaching, and I focus all my standards around STEAM-based projects. I enjoy watching the way their minds work, the wonder in their questions, and their willingness to make mistakes and forgive each other. I love to teach every subject. We have a class website with a teacher blog and student blog. We explore math and science, integrating them with literacy, art, and social studies. We dance and sing songs, learn games at PE and take field trips. All these get them excited for my favorite thing, which is teaching these young minds to read. The best part of my school year is watching that light bulb moment when they suddenly realize they are reading, and they start to pick up book on their own. And then I know that the science, the math, and the art will continue after they leave my class.
