In our classroom, we learn about world communications - wireless communication. We explore the opportunities available for communications through different venues. Our students are introduced to amateur radio and are given the opportunity to obtain their license through the Federal Communications Commission. In fact, we have our own amateur radio club - KF5CRF, the Tiger Radio Club. We compete in the semi-annual ARRL School Club Round Up where we were awarded first place in our category in the spring of 2016. The lessons learned through this class touch on math, science, technology, geography and virtually every subject studied by students today. Many scholarship opportunities are opened for students who have received their amateur radio licenses. These opportunities focus on the STEM areas taught in this class.
