When a student comes to you with a hopeful spirit asking if it would be alright if they could march a sousaphone next year and they'd be willing to practice as hard as it takes to be great, any band director across the country would do a happy dance; I was beside myself with excitement! Our program has been upper-woodwind heavy for years before I arrived and now we are blessed to have students that have a desire to fill out the rest of our band's needs! Currently, we only have one old sousaphone, leaving our student with an instrument that is not only embarrassing to carry, but doesn't produce its intended sound quality at all. Please help us.
