As the 7th grade reading, writing, and social studies teacher, I was looking for the students to do a novel study/literature circle. The stories in the literature textbook are boring and the kids hate them. I think "The Hate You Give" would be totally relevant to the current issue going on in society today regarding police brutality and racial profiling. I will be able to incorporate this into all the subjects that I teach. It is my hope that the students will really take an interest in this top selling novel because it is truly relevant to societal issues going on in the United States today.
