Currently students are struggling with music stands that wobble, fall down, and are not strong enough to hold music books. During class, stands tip and music falls in the floor and stands will not remain at the correct height for good posture and focus on the director. The TMS Band has grown from 140 members to over 270. Equipment that students use daily like music stands is wearing out and breaking. With the growth the band does not have enough music stands for the number of students that are now enrolled in class. Giving full band concerts has become a problem as the band does not have enough music stands for the largest group by half. We have to ask students to bring in folding music stands if they have them and even students that have graduated have provided their old folding stands for us to use. The 6th grade band now has 112 members and we only have enough music stands for 50 students even when students sit two per stand. When asked what the band needed the most my students unanimously stated, "Music Stands!"
