The students in my Physical Education classes come into the year with differing levels of skill, strength, and cardiovascular endurance. I teach students in grades 5-8 who come from a variety of cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds. Many of the students in my classes have never played a team sport outside of school and are introduced to a variety of new activities in middle school since we have a gymnasium, where their elementary schools do not.
